TAE HA

Tae Ha is originally from South Korea and has lived in California for the past three decades. She is a self-taught artist with a deep interest in diverse artistic forms, including landscape sculpture, found-object creation, garden design, and painting. Her work is primarily inspired by dreams and images that emerge during meditation. Many of her pieces function as intimate visual diaries, recording personal experiences and inner reflections.

Currently, Ha is exploring themes inspired by her experience of menopause and the birth of her grandson — milestones that evoke both the celebration of new life and the awareness of time’s passage. These deeply personal events have led her to investigate the relationship between human biology and consciousness. She views consciousness as something shaped — or even interrupted — by biological experience, and she contemplates the dissonance between mind and body, the eternal and the temporal. This tension, like a fissure opening within the self, raises questions about what kind of understanding or transformation might emerge from such a divide.

In Intimate Nature, Ha’s paintings draw from meditative imagery, focusing on the dynamic tension between two squares and the push-and-pull relationship they embody. Other works stem from her dreams, including a portrait of bacteria—an area she intends to explore further in future projects.
